2012 Domaine Cruchandeau Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Les Valancons

2012 Domaine Cruchandeau Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Les Valancons. This wine is insane on every level. Bright cherry, earth and tobacco. Massive tannins/structure, massive freshness/verve and pure fruit. This wine is amazingly tasty and has the structure to age for over a decade easily. I have tasted many premier crus that could not touch this wine in complexity and pleasure. And at $22 per bottle it is laughably inexpensive and outperforms wines 3x-5x its cost. I cannot stress enough how good this is. I actually decanted this. Julien Cruchandeau is a genius and @grapeylyle found one of the great gems in Burgundy. If I had bought a case or two, it still wouldn’t be enough.

I am not a professional wine taster, nor do I have any professional training in the wine trade. I am a wine enthusiast who has spent countless hours tasting wines of many different styles. My palate is not aligned with a single wine critic, and I call all wines "as I taste them". My site is a source of tasting notes and wine recommendations as well as warnings without conflict of interest. You'll just have to figure out how your palate aligns with mine. My palate generally tends to veer towards Old-World wines that put a premium on terroir and lovely balance and finesse, rather than raw power...please keep that in mind as you read my notes.
