NV Michel Arnould & Fils Champagne Grand Cru Brut Rosé to start Mother’s Day dinner at @barlataatx. Lovely wine that is showing strawberry, raspberry and tremendous freshness and balance. Does great with the tapas that Barlata serves. Great stuff and unfortunately my last bottle.

N.V. Launois Pere et Fils Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Reserve Blanc de Blancs Brut was our starter last night with our friends Kiko and Ron over for dinner. As always, this simply delivered and paired nicely with Kiko’s amazing Tortilla Española.

N.V. Launois Pere et Fils Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Reserve Blanc de Blancs Brut. Our first “dead soldier” of the night. As always. Just delicious and as inexpensive a Grand Cru Champagne from Le Mesnil as one can find. This is unicorn wine stuff at preunicorn prices.

Last Saturday, a group of us Austin wine fanatics assembled at our friends Bob and Lauren’s house to celebrate the (short-lived) return of our pal Rick who has somewhat recently moved to Lexington, KY. To celebrate the occasion, Rick and Greg made leg of lamb […]
This one started off our Friday night festivities and although I really liked it, this botle was lacking just a little. The same freshness with citrus and apple peel as always, but the mid-palate felt just a touch hollow. All-in-all still an excellent Champagne, but […]
Continues to be a good house sparkler for us. The price is right, and the flavor profile is in my wheel house. All citrus and apple peel, this is the perfect aperitif Champagne. We opened it as an aperitif before my wife’s birthday dinner. Just […]
2006 Franck Bonville Champagne Brut Millésimé Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru (France, Champagne, Avize, Champagne)
A very tasty Blanc de Blancs. 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay from the village of Avize, this is sternly structured, and shows the somewhat typical citrus, apple peel and baked bread characteristics that I love about BdBs. Fine mousse, solid finish, and lovely acidity. It held […]
Another day, another Champagne. Tasted this on two separate occasions. Once as an aperitif and with appetizers, and once (a separate bottle a few days later) with a main course of grilled Mahi Mahi. Outstanding Champagne. 100% Chardonnay. Right after being poured, the mousse is […]
Wonderful Champagne. 100% Grand Cru Pinot Noir. Strawberries, rose water and marzipane all the way. Lovely fine bead/mousse, admirable structure, lip-smacking acidity and terrific finish. Could be enjoyed with appetizers, main courses, or as an aperitif. Absolutely love this.
Purchased locally for what I thought was a good price, this Champagne was pleasant. As a non-dosage Champagne, this was predictably dry and packed with both toasted nut and citrus flavors. Nice mid-palate and finish. Only minor issue for me was that the bead was […]
